"SOUTH DAKOTA STANDING PROUD"

The purpose of the South Dakota Standing Proud Program is to recognize individuals, units, and organizations who, by superior performance or by service of a meritorious nature, make a major contribution to the well being of the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association and the effectiveness of the South Dakota National Guard.  This program was enacted in 1995 to further the goals of the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association in its efforts to promote adequate national and state security and to promote the welfare and professionalism of all enlisted members of the South Dakota National Guard.  Award categories and recipients of the South Dakota Standing Proud Awards Program:

Rushmore Award     Provide a means of recogniation to any person who distinguishes himself/herself with outstanding and exceptional service to the State of South Dakota, the South Dakota National Guard, or the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association.

Army Outstanding Retiree of the Year Award     Recognition of one outstanding Army retiree.

Air Outstanding Retiree of the Year Award     Recognition of one outstanding Air retiree.

Corning/Foss Award     Provide a means of recognition to any person who distinguishes himself/herself with an outstanding crontribution to the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association.

Distinguished Service Award     Recognize an indiviudal's distinguished service which is accomplished on behalf of the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association or the South Dakota National Guard.

Meritorious Service Award     Provide a means of recognition to any individual who, while serving in the military forces (Active or Reserve) of the South Dakota National Guard, shall distinguish himself/herself with an exceptionally meritorious service to the United States, or to the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association.

Outstanding Service Award     Provide a means of recognition to an individual's outstanding service which was accomplished on behalf of the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association or the South Dakota National Guard.
